      Jesse Topper was re-elected to a second term
                           with 70.8% of the vote!


Great challenges often walk hand in hand with great opportunities.  While it is true that we live in times that are challenging, we must realize that we are not the first Americans to do so.  As we look back through the history of this great nation we see times of war, economic uncertainty, and, at one time, a country so divided in her beliefs that a Civil War was fought within her borders.  We have the ability to gain perspective on the present by studying the past.  I’m sure that there were many Americans who, over the years, believed that they had seen the end of the country that they knew and loved; however, time after time this nation rose to not only meet the gravest of challenges,  but to leave a legacy of success that is still unrivaled in all of world!

 I know that there are many who are frustrated with various aspects of life in today’s America and much of the frustration is directed toward the government and our elected officials.  It is important to remember, however, that we are the ones with the only say when it comes to electing our leaders.  If we desire to see changes within our leadership, then we must begin to change the hearts and minds of those who will be making the decisions regarding who those leaders will be; our friends, families, neighbors, and colleagues.  Each one of us must become active in the election process at local, state, and federal levels and begin supporting candidates who will focus on public service and not politics.  

 

Let us not look upon these challenging times as anything less then a tremendous opportunity to write a new chapter in American history.  Hundreds of years from now, my hope is that historians will write that this generation energized a nation and refused to allow apathy and bitterness to win the day!  I have decided to be a part of this cause and will work with all of my strength to promote the ideas and values that I believe in my heart to be in the best interests of this county, state, and nation.
